XBox One Release

Ah, but can the new Xbox One replace the love of a good woman? *opens owner's manual* Oh it can, sweet!

OH MY BUDDHA!

I hate rush hour in Cambodia!

Stung Hav Power Station

Went for a ride on the motorbike out to the new power station that is being built near Stung Hav. There are a large number of power cuts in Sihanoukville and you never quite know when the power is going to come back on. Quite annoying if you want internet or are trying to retouch some pictures.

I was interested in seeing the new power station to see what sort of technology is being employed. It is a coal burning 90 MW station that looks like it has scubbers on it, but I couldn't be certain. The blue and white station is the first one that will be completed, and the larger one under construction should be completed in the next 2 years.

This should fix some of the power supply issues that Sihanoukville experiences (hopefully).

Desidiosus Tuktukus

Here is a picture of the common Cambodian tuk tuk driver (Desidiosus Tuktukus). These nocturnal creatures can be found easily outside bars, hotels and many shopping malls throughout the country. They have a distinctive loud call of "TUK TUK!!!!!" as you approach them. Unfortunately, they have a poor sense of direction and will get lost easily. They have a love for small green piece of paper. Approach with caution.

Chasing the lightning

Tonight was the first decent lightning storm that I have seen in Cambodia. I wasn't ready though. I need a higher perch away from the power lines so that I can capture some decent lightning strikes. Bring on the monsoon season!

Final day of shooting at Flame in Sihanoukville

Final day of shooting at Flame. It has been a little bit of a drawn out exercise. Post processing on the shots tomorrow and handing in the assignment tomorrow night. The might pick me up for the drink menu.

So a toast tonight for the end of the assignment. Strawberry milkshake, because I am still working :)

Photographing food can be quite tricky, but you get to eat the models afterwards! Here is some of the photos from my third day shooting at the restaurant. More to follow later.

Bus crash on Serendipity

Witnesses believe that the buses brakes completely failed at the top of the hill. Luckily no pedestrians were injured in the incident. One Cambodian woman jumped from the door of the bus not because she feared for her life in the bus crash, but rather that she can not swim. She appeared to be unconscious as she was taken away in an ambulance.

Four motorbikes and several banners sustained heavy damage in the crash. Most of them are are expected to recover, however the white bike pictured may suffer from a fear of buses for the rest of it life.
Luckily the motorbikes in question had red string tied on to them so were under Buddha's protection.

Police on the scene were reported as saying "This is a terrible accident and it will take a large bribe before we can let this investigation go". When asked if any laws were broken, they responded by asking what a law was and how can they profit from this?

At present people from the Sihanoukville Tourist Association could not be reached as to whether they will remove the litter left by the bus.
