This is a collection of pictures I took as I went along the river. It is an interesting place, although the river looks like an interesting place to get hepatitis! I am reminded that I come from a river city (Hamilton, New Zealand) and that we turn our back on our river. It is a real shame because we could have things like this down there. Oh well, think that Hamilton would take a lot of persuading to do anything like this!

Old bus station bridge with the eye of Melaka in the background.

I love these lampposts.

This bridge links to the 1920 Morton historic village.

Boardwalk along the river with many places to stop and relax. Although many are already taken.

The Eye of Melaka

Great murals depicting the history of Melaka

Bridge across to Jonker Walk. Old Chinatown part of Melaka.

Church of Saint Francis Xavier

Entry to Little India

Not all pretty.

Now this looks like a nice place to stay!

Replica of a Portuguese ship that foundered on the beach of Melaka. It is a maritime museum now.

Not a food stall. This is a pet store!

Pictures from my cruise on the river boats that continuously run up and down. THey are cheap at around MYR 15 and they give a little narrative of the sites as you go past. Nice way to spend an hour. You also get a little bit of a feel for how the city is laid out.

A Mamee is a type of pot noodle. I dread to know what a Mamee monster is!

Other views of the water wheel

Some of the locals. Aren't they friendly?
